About Us

Fueling the Future (ONE CHEAP MEAL AT A TIME)

Who we are: the broke foodie’s best friend

Welcome to Starving Scholars!

We are not professional food critics. We are just like you: students, recent grads, and budget-conscious eaters who know the harsh reality of living life on a ramen-level budget. We understand the existential dread of checking your bank balance after buying a textbook, only to realize you still need to eat for the next two weeks.

This blog was born out of necessity—and serious hunger. Our mission is simple: to prove that you can eat deliciouslysatisfyingly, and creatively without sacrificing your entire semester’s savings.

Our mission: defeating the hunger games

Every student faces “The Hunger Games” (the desperate search for decent, cheap food). We’re here to give you the cheat codes!

  • The Problem: High rent, high tuition, and the temptation of expensive takeout.
  • The Solution: Hyper-local, student-verified, budget-friendly food solutions.

We scour the streets near major university hubs in India—from the bustling lanes of Delhi University to the local train corners of Mumbai and the café roads of Pune—to bring you verified eateries where a full meal costs less than your daily bus fare.

What you’ll find here: beyond the mess hall

We focus on two key pillars for every recommendation:

  1. The Price Tag: Nothing over ₹250 (and most spots are well under ₹150!). We prioritize places where you can fill up for less than a fancy coffee.
  2. The Flavor: We feature legendary street stalls, iconic student haunts, and hidden gems that offer high-quality food, not just cheap fillers.

We cover:

  • The Ultimate Thali: Where to find the most value-for-money, unlimited meals.
  • Late-Night Saviors: Spots open after 10 PM for those inevitable study session crashes.
  • Quick & Filling: The fastest, cheapest snack that counts as a lunch (hello, Vada Pav!).
  • Dorm Room Recipes: Easy, no-cook or low-cook meals to save you even more.

This isn’t just our blog—it’s a community. Have a legendary ₹100 spot near your college campus? Did you survive a week on a particular budget meal? We want to hear it!
